Why is Kalmadoz free?

A fair question — and one that deserves a clear, honest answer about how the platform works and how it sustains itself.

Platform team discussing collaborative economy model at a modern workspace

The exchange itself is the value

Kalmadoz is built on the principle that when professionals exchange services, the platform's purpose is fulfilled. The network grows when members find value — and that growth is what sustains the platform's development.

No monetary transactions — no fees

Because Kalmadoz operates on a credit system with no cash changing hands, the traditional fee structures of payment platforms don't apply. There are no transaction processing costs to pass on to members.

Built for the Argentine entrepreneurial ecosystem

The platform was designed with the realities of the Argentine economic context in mind. Accessibility matters — charging upfront fees would exclude the very entrepreneurs the platform is designed to serve.

Premium features support the core

The basic exchange functionality is and will remain free. Optional enhanced features — such as priority visibility in the directory or advanced exchange analytics — may be offered on a voluntary basis to members who want them.

Barter is not a monetary transaction

Under Argentine law, a barter arrangement — where two parties exchange goods or services of equivalent value — is not classified as a monetary transaction. Because no money changes hands, standard tax obligations that apply to commercial transactions do not arise from the exchange itself.

Kalma Credits are internal accounting units used exclusively within the Kalmadoz platform. They are not a currency, not a financial instrument, and they cannot be converted to Argentine pesos or any other currency. They exist solely to record the relative value of services exchanged between members.

This is why Kalmadoz describes itself as "organized barter with technology" — it applies modern platform tools to a form of exchange that has existed throughout human history, making it transparent, scalable, and fair.

What this means for you as a member

When you exchange your graphic design services for accounting consultation through Kalmadoz, you are participating in a barter arrangement. The platform records the exchange for transparency and balance — it does not constitute a commercial sale of services for tax purposes. We recommend consulting with a qualified accountant regarding your individual circumstances, as tax situations vary.

The platform does not provide tax advice, and nothing on this page should be interpreted as such. The information above is provided for general informational purposes about how the Kalmadoz model is structured.
